Research of ancient shipwrecks of the Cape Uljeva finally started

From 9.9. to 22.9.2012.g. the systematic exploration of ancient shipwrecks of the cape Uljeva naer Ližnjan has begun. After several years of surveying sea bottom and trial trenching, a systematic study of these interesting shipwrecks finally began. This year most of the time was devoted to set up a fixed network and document the site, and only towards the end the excavation of the shipwreck Uljeva B started. Research of Uljeva shipwrecks are lead by dr.sc.Luka Beki? and Mladen Peši? from the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar in collaboration with specialist mr.sc.Miran Eri? from the Institute for Protection of Cultural heritage of Slovenia. Research is being conducted under the auspices of the Local community of Ližnjan. During the research the international Advanced Course of underwater archeology trough ICUA / UNESCO program was conducted.
